You may be wondering, how can spirituality help stop domestic violence? If you’ve explored our website, you know we have an entire section on “ The God Factor ”. We connect spirituality to stopping domestic violence because we’ve seen how helpful a relationship with God can be for a person working to change.   (cc) Victor Paul. How one approaches the use of violence is a prominent topic within nearly all traditions. I will speak to it from the point of view of spiritual practice; specifically along the lines of contemplative thought, inspired by Buddhist, Stoic, Christian, and Humanistic ideas, since this is a close description of my : DT Strain.

Christian Spirituality: High Middle Ages and Reformation by Raitt, Jill and a great selection of related books, art and collectibles available now at When spiritual leaders are caught in sex abuse scandals, the secular and Christian media alike pen stories that offer the detestable details and dogged denials. But spiritual abuse, cultish churches and controlling ministries are less often exposed than pastors who coerce teenaged boys and unsuspecting church secretaries to have sexual relations.

Christian spirituality is a consciousness of fellowship with the Spirit of Christ, uninterrupted by carnality and sin. Christian spirituality develops when a born-again believer makes a consistent and ongoing choice to surrender to the ministry of the Holy Spirit.   In his book Fight: A Christian Case for Non-Violence, Preston lays out his case for why Christians should be non-violent and how far that stance should go. I agree that the default position for Christians should be non-violence (and have written along these lines here, here, and here). That said, I am still a proponent of the idea of a Just War.
